Historic Bass River

Historic location of Walkers Mill, an old covered bridge no longer standing and Loyal Orange Lodge # 33 which seems to have disbanded after the death of Grand Master, John Thompson, 1892. The building was used for community suppers and business meetings until 1961, annual parades continued in combination with St. Mark's Presbyterian Church Picnics and later evolved into the Bass River Country Fair held annually on July 12th weekend since 1974.

The first 2 years of the BRCF 1974-1976 were held at St. Mark's Church Hall, the first President - Alexander Thompson. By 1976 a new Fair Hall was constructed to accommodate the large crowds attending the popular horse hall event and the organization was moved to it's current location 20 Fearon Cross Road, Bass River, just off Route 116.
